Bands nowadays have to offer something different for them to penetrate the mainstream scene. We have bands that have 3 or more vocalists, bands fuses rap and rock, bands that sing their heart out either of love and hatred. And then there are bands that really are unique. That’s where Silent Sanctuary comes in.

Composed of 5 young lads, this band really stands out right now. The had recently released their new album entitled “Fuchsiang pag-ibig” a collection of songs about love, joy, being sentimental, even a Christmas lantern. this is their second effort after their debut album “ellipsis of the mind” a few years ago. What’s really unique about this band is that they have a small string section in their arsenal (a Violin and Cello) also backed-up a very emotional voice and drumbeats that will be in your head for quite sometime.

Simply put the formula: meaningful lyrics + nice voice + strings = one very good album.

I heard Rebound about a few months ago and boy I tell you a slight change in the arrangement can sound good. I have also heard some of the songs that were included in the album and their early versions and I must say, it had improved somewhat in the recording process.

The album starts off with “Rebound” which I think everyone can relate to it’s lyrics followed by “Sandali lang” which is about a relationship that ended up unexpectedly. Then there’s the carrier single “ikaw lamang” which is being played on the airwaves. A song for pink 5ive (yes, the infamous pink five of bioman days) “Ingat ka” has got to be the next single for the album. It has the elements of a typical romantic guy, telling the person he loves to take care of herself.

12 tracks all in all (though the inlay says 14, 2 of which are time gaps) one good album indeed. 58 minutes of good music with an orchestral touch. Nice work from the guys. im sure this album will be their ticket to fame. Kudos guys! I’ll count this one as one of the must-have albums of 2007
