Yeah! Sunday is mall day for most of us. Even i, also have a life. I went to the mall this afternoon (SM Mall Of Asia) to meet up with my mom (i feel so bored strolling alone in the mall, i miss my pancake.)
Anyhow, so i have to wait for them and at the same time, buy myself some stuff and canvass for an iPod touch. As i was walking through the mall, i noticed that there would be a Sunday afternoon performer by the bay. Turns out it was Pupil.
Yes, that band which was on my list of must bands to see. Armed with an ice cream on one hand and a cellphone camera on the other, i went to the activity area. There were booths like free taste of ice tea and a guitar hero world tour booth where you can play the game and use the drums (wow, so the drummer enthusiast i am, i tried the game and honestly, i don’t want to leave the gaming area as i was done playing) but one thing that made me left off my seat was because the show was about to start.
And so there they are. Wow! there were a lot of pupilistas in the side of the stage (The official street team of pupil is called “pupilistas”) They started the set with gamu-gamo, a track from their first album. Most of the songs they sang were singles from the first and second album. I liked talon, dulo ng dila and disconnection notice. But the surprise part was when the did their version of pare ko and with a twist.
The sponge cola boys were around the vicinity (i saw Gosh Dilay and Armo Armovit earlier by the way) and to my surprise, Pupil invited Yael Yuzon (the younger brother of pupil’s backing guitarist Yan Yuzon) and the next events were unexpected. To the crowds surprise (and myself included) they played “Pare ko”. I know, somebody out there who is a reader of my blog would say “what the f*ck! woooo!” even i myself was stunned and found myself jumping with the crowd. Pardon me for the shaky video that i took (i was one with the crowd, moving and jumping to the tune)
They ended the set with a tribute to the master rapper (Ely already did this with the eraserheads during the final set) The song started with a part of the song kaleidoscope world after which going to superproxy.
After the show, i got myself a dvd boxset of Heroes season 1. Ahh, reminiscing the early days of heroes where the main motto was “Save the cheerleader, Save the world”
After all, going to the mall during weekends is a good idea!
