This morning while in the office, my good officemate squared told me a news article that indeed got my attention. Well, it irked me because here comes again those lawmakers who have no idea on what they are talking about. It’s about considering online games as a form of addiction. Well, this was what he said during her commencement exercise speech at the University of the Philippines Cebu College.
As i read the Inquirer online article about it, i can help but somewhat think that could these politicians only be:
a.) Making a name because as we all know, elections will be coming up next year.
b.) Making another bill wherein they don’t have any idea on what they are talking about; just to impress the people that “hey, we are making laws here and we deserve credit for it”
c.) They don’t have any idea on what they are talking about.
Playing online games really is addictive. I for myself have played several online games. But telling the kids not to play online games is not the right word to put on it, but instead, try to be responsible and play in moderation. Sure, games can be addictive but it also promotes the following:
a.) Camaraderie among other players (e.g. ragnarok, granado espada and other mmorpgs available in the market today)
b.) Enhances the mental skills of the players (e.g. online first person shooting games like counterstrike, call of duty 4, special forces and the likes)
c.) Develops strategy amongst other players (e.g. team games like what was mentioned before)
So you see, games are not bad after all. Sure it doesn’t have the physical skill that you need (like running, walking and other things) but it develops the mental skills of the players. Oh and by the way, most of the jobs available today requires critical thinking and mental analysis….. go figure….
- Games with moderation = good
- Games without moderation = bad
- *Politicians who has no idea what they are talking about = very bad
(*this does not only apply to this article. There are alot of other useless bills that are being made and available in the country.)

yeah i agree with you mister popo! damn those politicians! f*ck their brains out.
@grand duke
Well, that’s how politics work here in the Philippines. Kinda sucks but well, you have to abide with it!
up for you duke!
blank vote 2010! hehe
As far as i know, mukhang wala eh. Either they think na it’s just a gimmick of the said person and the issue will just disappear in a few weeks or ayaw na nilang patulan yung issue.
