Saturday morning, September 26, A day that was supposed to be of celebration on my part. We were all greeted by Ondoy (international name ketsana), the latest typhoon to hit the country. As i slept the night before, it was raining hard and up until the morning, the same downpour of rain remained. It was something i, we and all of us didn’t expected.

As i was browsing the net and talking to my future wife over YM, i went down to check and see if the water on the river beside our house was high enough to reach our garage which what we always do if there would be any typhoons passing by our area. And so i saw the raging water flowing down the river, not a good sign. We have to move the vehicles to a higher place as we were traumatized by the same event about 8 or 9 years ago (which i can’t remember the name but yeah, it wreaked havoc down the metro) Good thing for her that she stayed in their office and went home the next day. mnmkbp999

And so the moving of the vehicles started. I placed my moms car over at the apartment where my aunt and her family lives and also because the location of the apartment is on a higher place inside the subdivision. As i went back to the garage, here comes the water down from the river starting to fill up the garage and the next minute… Pow! the water runs it and the next thing i know, we were lifting things like the washing machine, speakers, clothes, and other stuff that we have on our garage were submerged in water. The water kept on rising and right now, we are prepared to move the remaining important stuff on to the second floor. As it subsided after an hour, here comes the cleaning part. Thank god for we were all ok.

Unfortunately for the others, their houses were washed away, they were stranded on their roofs for almost 12 hours and i was thinking, what if i was in that situation? so for a moment, i kept silent and started to pray for no one in my family, loved ones nor relatives got hurt in the aftermath and also asked for the rain to stop so that the others who were not that lucky enough like us would be saved.

Imagine, a rainfall that fell down overnight were able to flood some areas of manila, taytay, cainta and marikina. What more if it lasted for more than a week?

Thus we learned 2 things after typhoon ondoy’s aftermath:

  • The power of prayer never fails
  • Never mess with mother nature

Let’s offer a moment of silence and put our differences aside. This is the time wherein we all work and unite as one.
