As we all know, May 10 is fast approaching. This is our time and right to vote who will be the next president of this country. The fate of these presidential candidates lies in our hands. The country right now is in a festive mood. Posters, tarpaulins, gatherings of politicians here and there, campaign fever… it’s like fiesta all around.

But after this period, what happens next to the country? will these politicians asking you to vote for them will still remember you? probably not because that’s how politics work here. They only know you for a certain amount of time and once it’s over… poof! just like that…Also, how many promises from these politicians will be fulfilled? Sad to say but this is the sad truth.

I’m not saying my candidate will be the one who can change the world (actually up to this date, i’m still deciding who to vote) i still have at least 3 candidates in mind. Probably by tomorrow, i’ll complete my list of people whom i will be voting.

Let’s all vote wisely and responsibly guys. Our fate for the next 6 years lies at your hand. Don’t let your vote go to waste and be vigilant.

Why you ask?

Recently, Adam Carolla made some comments from the champ Manny Pacquiao and after which on the interview, he attacked the Philippines itself. Personally, i feel pity on him and our country. We always get comments like this and yet, can’t do anything about it. Well, some of his comments are half true but no matter what happens, we still hail Pacquiao.

The comment that irritates me is when he started attacking the Philippines as a whole instead of one person only. And you call yourself a media person? well, hell yeah, you surely did got your 15 minutes of fame. Just try to step here in our country and do the so-called “sex tours” that you mentioned. Let’s see if you can step foot on the country unharmed.

1. Eraserheads – Ultraelectromagneticpop - Yeah, The Eraserheads ignited my eagerness to form and be in a band.

2. Bloc Party – Silent Alarm - The first time i heard “Helicopter” and “So here we are”, i said to myself, “wow, something new and refreshing” It’s been played over and over on my cd player, winamp and i pod. God bless bloc party. This modern love also rocks!

3. Rage Against The Machine – Evil Empire – This album got my attention to listen to the band. “Bulls on parade” way back in the 90′s was something unique and awesome. I remember reading in the album inlay that no synthesizers nor keyboards were used in recording this album… f*ckin awesome… I wanted to do those tricks that Tom Morello did in the album and so far, im proud to say that at an early age of 13, i can play “people of the sun” (but no without sacrificing alot of guitar picks) hehehe!

4. Kjwan – Kjwan – Killer guitar riffs, groovy drumbeats, steady bass and a voice that only Marc Abaya can deliver. pure awesomeness…… Also, seeing them perform onstage live makes me move and jump around. Bastusan na!

5. Sandwich – Grip Stand Throw - I remember the day when i purchased this album The inlay instructs you on how to make a paper airplane using the inlay itself. But seriously, After hearing “Butterfly Carnival”, i have completely fallen in love with the album Add up “Sakyan” and “Jetlag” to the hits, damn! nuff said.

6. Third Eye Blind – Third Eye Blind – “Jumper”, “Semi-charmed life” and “Losing a whole year” kept playing on my cassette player whenever im in my room reviewing for exams and quizzes. Cmon, im sure you went on singing the infectious “doot-doot -doo doot-doroot-doo” of semi-charmed life.

7. Wolfgang – Wolfgang – Ahh the early days of wolfgang…. again, way back in my high school days, we were singing “Halik ni hudas” and “Darkness fell” in the classrooms while playing it on an acoustic guitar.

8.Francis M – Freeman - Probably Francis Magalona’s best album yet. Yes, because of this album, i even considered rapping. hehehe!

9. Asian Kung-Fu Generation – Kimi Tsunagi 5m - Technically i first heard their song in the 2nd opening of the anime hit series Naruto. After hearing “Haruka Kanata”, the rest was history. I collected their albums, PV’s, Singles and DVD’s….. No doubt, they are the first J-rock band i grew listening to. Gotoh, the vocalist voice is simply amazing. Even though he’s shouting, he still maintains the tones and keeps the lyrics bearable enough to listen.

10. Incubus – Make Yourself, Enjoy Incubus EP – Can i count the ep as a part of an album? heheh! Seriously, when i first heard enjoyincubus ep from a bandmate way back in college, i thought it was P.O.T. cause Brandon Boyd and Karl Roy sounded alike. Heck, even the style of music is almost alike. But their change from jazz-alternative music to alternative was again…. f*ckin awesome…. pardon me while i burst into flames…..

11. Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness – Shakedown 1979… cool kids never had the time…. Then suddenly shifting to harder music like bullet with butterfly wings then going to tonight, tonight, this album showcases the different variations of music that the band can do. up until now, i still listen to this album and i even have the myspace tribute to the smashing pumpkins. My track recommendation? 1979

12. Angels and Airwaves – We don’t need to whisper – Delay effects galore. Loved the album, the voice of Tom and overall, a solid album.

13. Taken By Cars – Endings of a new kind – Remember how i loved bloc party? Well, this is the local counterpart of it. Groovy tunes that you can dance to, This album ranks 3rd as most played in my playlist.

14. Death Cab for Cutie – Transatlanticism – I first heard this band from my former officemate and bandmate and upon hearing “The new year” It almost wanted to slash my wrist (just kidding!) But seriously though, one of the best works yet from the band themselves.

15. Rivermaya – Trip - Their second album brought and made me predict that they are one of the local act to watch for way back in the 90′s. and my predictions did came true.

So there you go. The top 15 albums that influenced me. Although i still have alot (and i do mean alot) of top album picks, This has got to be my best 15.

Be warned though that this mixtape doesn’t include any pop-boyband-novelty songs but the ol’ fashioned mikepopo way…. rock! hehehe!

Happy hearts day everybody. I’ve been playing Left 4 Dead with my former office for quite sometime this week and i just wanted to share this postcard that was inspired by the game.
